We need your help.

Newspapers and media companies nationwide are closing or suffering mass layoffs since the coronavirus impacted all of us starting in March. City Weekly's entire existence is directly tied to people getting together in groups--in clubs, restaurants, and at concerts and events--which are the industries most affected by new coronavirus regulations.

Our industry is not healthy. Yet, City Weekly has continued publishing thanks to the generosity of readers like you. Utah needs independent journalism more than ever, and we're asking for your continued support of our editorial voice. We are fighting for you and all the people and businesses hardest hit by this pandemic.

You can help by making a one-time or recurring donation on PressBackers.com, which directs you to our Galena Fund 501(c)(3) non-profit, a resource dedicated to help fund local journalism. It is never too late. It is never too little. Thank you. DONATE

Local Releases: Stars Of Leo, Miss Mindy

What’s this? A non-corporate album being released on a Tuesday? --- Actually this one came as a pleasant surprise, as if from thin air, but Brian Andelin under the group name Stars Of Leo has been working hard on this for nearly a year and a half. With nothing more than his own works and the help of Nick Galieti from Studio 5.1, Brian took his time to craft every song of the EP until he was satisfied. Celebrating the release of Digging Holes, the comprised band will be performing tonight at Kilby Court, playing along side James McOmber and the Emily Melander Band. Just $6 at 7PM.

And while we’re looking at releases this week, 5 Monkey’s will have another show this weekend. Miss Mindy, one of the more unique artists in the hip-hop community will be releasing her debut album: Unconventional, Unstoppable & Unbreakable. Not much available from the rapping Latina other than an impressive resume around the club circuit. You can check out her release show with a list of supports and performers this Friday. Just $5 at 10PM.

Head out, love music, buy local!
