The other downside was that the show got a late start. However, this didn’t keep attendees from dancing the night away. When the second openers Muscle Hawk starting dropping creative beats, people started moving their feet. The local electro-duo (Greg Bower and Josh Holyoak) played a 45-minute set that included the popular “Set Yourself on Fire” and the new “Switch It.” Fans were also treated to a highly voltaic Nirvana cover.
By the time half of Ladytron took over quite a bit of the bar had trickled out because of the late hour, and even more left when they discovered that nothing original was going to be spun or sung. The set wasn’t anything special or note-worthy. If one were to compare the two performances (London natives Ladytron and locals Muscle Hawk) by levels of sheer enthusiasm, Muscle Hawk would easily emerge the winner.
Despite the setbacks, most still managed to salvage the night. You can’t beat cheap beer, great company and an electronic dance party on a weeknight. Bar Deluxe still remains one of the best hot spots for local bands and their fans to hangout.
