Protesters will rally tomorrow against former Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice who will be speaking at BYU’s Marriott Center. ---

The good folks of The Mormon Worker are rallying against the visit of Bush era-flunky Condoleeza Rice. Challenging Rice for her involvement in the 2003 Iraq invasion, the deaths of countless Iraqi civilians and human rights abuses at Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo Bay, the protesters hope to let Rice know not everyone welcomes her presence in Utah, especially not all good LDS members.

“Launching offensive wars is also contrary to the admonition that Latter-day Saints ‘renounce war and proclaim peace (D&C 98:16).’ Reads The Mormon Workers’ press release.

The protest is being held tomorrow, Thursday Jan. 13. Protesters will gather at 10:30 a.m. just west of BYU campus at 1469 N. Canyon Road and march from there to the Marriot Center where Rice’s speech will begin at 11 a.m.
