Table for Two (TFT) is a nonprofit organization that simultaneously tackles malnutrition in sub-Saharan Africa and obesity in the United States, Japan and other developed countries. --- Beginning Monday, Aug. 1, Table for Two will partner with its first Utah restaurant: Thai Garden.
TFT partners with restaurants, corporate cafeterias and university dining halls. At restaurants, customers are given a choice of some specially selected healthy meals. When a customer chooses one of the TFT meals, 25 cents goes towards a school-meal program in Rwanda, Uganda or Ethiopia. By eating a healthy TFT meal here, you are also providing the gift of a warm school meal to a hungry child halfway across the world. "Order for one. Feed two."
Roughly one billion individuals in the world suffer from hunger and malnutrition, while another billion face obesity, diabetes, and other health issues related to "over-nutrition."
Vipada Chitratont, owner of Thai Garden, was already saving money in jars from her restaurant to help feed hungry school children in her native Thailand. Now she is eager to provide Thai Garden customers the opportunity to help hungry school kids in Africa.
