Top 10 Utah DJs Announced | Buzz Blog
We need your help.

Newspapers and media companies nationwide are closing or suffering mass layoffs since the coronavirus impacted all of us starting in March. City Weekly's entire existence is directly tied to people getting together in groups--in clubs, restaurants, and at concerts and events--which are the industries most affected by new coronavirus regulations.

Our industry is not healthy. Yet, City Weekly has continued publishing thanks to the generosity of readers like you. Utah needs independent journalism more than ever, and we're asking for your continued support of our editorial voice. We are fighting for you and all the people and businesses hardest hit by this pandemic.

You can help by making a one-time or recurring donation on PressBackers.com, which directs you to our Galena Fund 501(c)(3) non-profit, a resource dedicated to help fund local journalism. It is never too late. It is never too little. Thank you. DONATE

The votes are in: Here are the 10 local DJs who will compete in the 2012 City Weekly Music Awards.---

CWMA will host 10 local-music showcases that will take place during the first two weeks of February. These will feature 25 bands of all genres, and (new this year) two DJ Spin-Off events featuring 10 of Utah’s best DJs—rather than the one showcase with five DJs we had last year.

We gave music lovers and folks who love to get dizzy spinning to DJs the opportunity to vote for their favorite DJ, from December 7-28. Now, we’ve tallied the votes and confirmed with the DJs, and here are the top 10 vote-getters:

ToM SRVO
Stesus Nice
DJ Supa Mario
DJ Illoom
Alastair
DeeJay Bentley
Flash & Flare
DJ Goobers
DJ Elvis Freshly
DJ Handsome Hands

They will then compete in the two DJ Spin-Off events, on Feb. 1 and 8. The top vote-getter from both nights will be crowned the King/Queen of the ones and twos, who will be announced in the Feb. 16 issue.

The final list of 25 bands for the 2012 City Weekly Music Awards will be announced soon. The list is looking mighty fine and is an excellent example of the diverse talent in Salt Lake City, both veteran acts and some new ones.

Stay updated by checking out our CWMA page here, and follow the action on Twitter with #CWMA.

In the meantime, check out this recap video from last year's comp, which features the winner Flash & Flare.
