On Saturday, July 7, Local First Utah will host the 5th Annual Chef's Challenge at the Downtown Farmers Market, beginning at 10 a.m.. ---

This year's Chef's Challenge will feature three talented local chefs: Finca chef Phelix Gardner, Buzz Willey of Pallet, and Brock Wall from the Avenues Bistro on Third.

The event begins with a "People's Choice" round, where chefs will share appetizers featuring locally sourced food with audience members who can vote for their favorites.

In the second round, a panel of five notable judges will taste and evaluate dishes utilizing a secret ingredient procured from the Farmers Market, which will be revealed at the time of the cook-off.

The Chef's Challenge launches Local First Utah's "Summer of Independents" campaign, designed to "highlight the independent businesses that keep our local economy strong," featuring a series of events and a Summer Saver coupon available online and redeemable at over 80 locally owned businesses.
