A skateboard legend and award-winning documentary filmmaker visit Park City tonight--and they're the same guy. ---
The Park City Kimball Arts Festival opens today with enough visual art, food, music and other entertainment to keep any visitor occupied. But tonight only, there's an extra attraction. Stacy Peralta -- pioneering skateboarder and director of the documentaries Dogtown and Z-boys and Riding Giants -- joins a special evening of activities in City Park sponsored by the Sundance Institute, the Arts Festival and Park City Recreation.
Festivities begin at 7 p.m., with a skate jam featuring local skateboarders (free to participate, on a first-come, first-served basis). Artists will also be painting one-of-a-kind skateboards, one of which will be among the prizes for skate-jam participants. Then at 8:45, Peralta will introduce his most recent documentary film, Bones Brigade: An Autobiography, which was featured at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival, for a 9 p.m. screening. All events are free and open to the public.
