As most wine lovers know, France's Beaujolais Nouveau is released for sale on the third Thursday of November, and restaurants in this country race to be the first to uncork the "new" Beaujolais. --- Well, the first barrel of Beaujolais Nouveau in town that I'm aware of will be uncorked at The Copper Onion tomorrow, Nov. 15. They'll be pouring Beaujolais Nouveau 2012 from France's legendary winemaker, Georges DuBoeuf, beginning at 3:00 PM.
DuBoeuf Beaujolais Nouveau is, of course, made from handpicked Gamay grapes and is relatively low in alcohol, with fruity flavors, a light body and tame tannins.
I suggest pairing the 2012 Georges DuBoeuf Beaujolais Nouveau with The Copper Onion's killer grilled ham & cheese sandwich, made with Tillamook Cheddar, Manchego, and Kurobuta ham. Just call it a croque monsieur for the day.
