A farm girl from Utah is touching people's hearts on Reddit with her holiday-perfect tale of an unexpected gift from a stranger.---

Wednesday, her non-saccharine saga was No. 1 on Reddit's front page, with 22,000-plus views.

In a post titled, "A little story about how a redditor helped me out when I became employed," Savannah tells how she was diagnosed with unilateral hearing loss the year before her senior prom. "That means my left ear can't hear shit," she posts.

She lost her job a week ago, but continues to live on a farm, where she helps with feeding animals and general upkeep.

A few days ago, she wrote in Reddit "Off My Chest" forum about frustrations related to her shrinking savings for a hearing aid due to her lack of employment. A stranger contacted her via social media and offered to get her a hearing aid, which was duly dispatched shortly after.

"I listened to the rain hit the roof this morning," she posts. Now that she can locate sounds, she feels more confident about herself and plans to return to school for spring 2013.
