Glad You Asked: Ken Jennings, Steve Hofstetter and Fight Club | Buzz Blog
We need your help.

Newspapers and media companies nationwide are closing or suffering mass layoffs since the coronavirus impacted all of us starting in March. City Weekly's entire existence is directly tied to people getting together in groups--in clubs, restaurants, and at concerts and events--which are the industries most affected by new coronavirus regulations.

Our industry is not healthy. Yet, City Weekly has continued publishing thanks to the generosity of readers like you. Utah needs independent journalism more than ever, and we're asking for your continued support of our editorial voice. We are fighting for you and all the people and businesses hardest hit by this pandemic.

You can help by making a one-time or recurring donation on, which directs you to our Galena Fund 501(c)(3) non-profit, a resource dedicated to help fund local journalism. It is never too late. It is never too little. Thank you. DONATE

Glad You Asked: Ken Jennings, Steve Hofstetter and Fight Club

Dear GYA, I just read that Taco Bell is going to release a Doritos Cool Ranch taco later this year and I couldn't be more disappointed. Sure, I love the taste of beef-like meat substitute wrapped in a savory chip, but, seriously, Cool Ranch? Where's the "Cooler" Ranch, bro? Our tastebuds are already accustomed to the flavor-blasted intensity of Cooler Ranch Doritos. Shhh! Did you hear that? It's the sound of a million man-child tears falling in unison.---Anything happening today after we protest this taco? - Donald Donnets, Man-Children for America

Donald, You couldn't be more right. This is a huge oversight by Yum! Brands Incorporated. You need to raise awareness on this issue immediately. Here's what's up for today:

Former Jeopardy! contestant and author Ken Jennings will be signing and reading from his new book Because I Said So! tonight at The King's English Bookshop. Because I said So! is a skeptical view on myths and folklore that parents pass down to their kids. The reading starts at 7.

Stand-up comedian Steve Hofstetter will be back onstage at 5 Monkeys. This is Hofstetter's first appearance in Utah after he was boo'd off the stage three years ago for cursing. Seriously. He's appeared on shows like The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, Comics Unleashed and Quite Frankly. The show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $20. Here's a clip of the infamous Utah show:

Head to Brewvies for City Weekly's FREE January movie! This month, we're showing Fight Club. If you haven't seen it, essentially it's a cheery tale about a traveling soap salesman. Check-in with The Word before the movie to enter to win appetizers and more from Brewvies! The show starts at 8 p.m.
