Dear GYA, I'm pretty excited for the Utah Beer Fest happening this Saturday at the Gallivan Center. I hope I stumble across a beer that makes me want to believe in magic again. You know what I mean -- the type of beer that makes me wish it were winter so we could freeze it into ice blocks and skate on it ... and melt it in the spring time and drink it?--- Anything happening this weekend besides beautiful, magical beer? - Barry Badrinath, The Avenues

Barry, I know what you're saying. I once had a beer at the Utah Beer Fest that made me feel like Miles Davis was playing a solo in mouth, under an orange sunset with a velvet ribbon tied around his trumpet. Here's what's up this weekend. Let's start with Friday:

For food, music and workshops, check out the Spy Hop Street Party today in honor of a year's worth of creativity. The party starts at 5 p.m. Admission is free.

The AVP Pro Beach Volleyball Tournament is happening all day today at Liberty Park. The games start at 9 a.m. Tickets are $25. 

Salt Lake's own take talk show, The Paul Duane Show, is going down at The Complex tonight, featuring guests like City Weekly's Bill Frost, 101.5 The Eagle's Amanda Jones, comedian Stephen Davis and musical guest Joel Pack and The Pops. Tickets are $10. The show starts at 8. 

Stand-up comedian Keith Stubbs will be onstage at Wiseguys West Valley. The show starts at 9:30 p.m. Tickets are $12.   

Bluegrass-Celtic hybrid band The Clumsy Lovers will be performing at The State Room this evening. The show starts at 9. Tickets are $15. 


Saturday's events:   

The 4th Annual Utah Beer Fest is happening at the Gallivan Center, starting at 3 p.m. VIP tickets are sold out, but $15 general admission tickets are still available.

The Pig 'N Pork Festival will be going down at Thanksgiving Point all day today. Tickets start at $5.

For everything EDM-related, check out the Das Energi Festival at The Great Saltair, featuring laptops from Borgore, Adventure Club and Dannic. The show starts at 3 p.m. Tickets are $32.

In roller-derby action, the Bonneville Bone Crushers will take on the HVDD Molly Morbids at the Roller Depot tonight at 7. Tickets are $15. 

Legendary stand-up comic Marc Maron will be at Wiseguys West Valley tonight at 7. Tickets are $23.  

The State Room is hosting the Cutthroat Beer Bash tonight at 7. There will be music by Bronco, food and a silent auction. Tickets are $25.   

Americana singer-songwriter Lyle Lovett will be at Deer Valley tonight at 7. Tickets start at $40. 


Sunday's events:

At Spring Mobile Ballpark, the Salt Lake Bees will be taking on the Las Vegas 51s today at 1 p.m. Tickets start at $5.  

City Weekly, True TV, Bohemian Brewery & Brewvies will be showing the final season of AMC's Breaking Bad for free at 7 p.m.! 

Bourbon House will be hosting Funk and Soul Night with DJ Street Jesus, beginning at 9. Admission is free.  

The all-day dance party Groove Garden will be happening at the Garage on Beck. The party starts at 2 p.m. There will be a $5 cover.
