Dear GYA, Today is International Owl Awareness Day, which is great because what the hell are owls anyway? I mean, really, are they birds? Small-winged rodents? Mythical masters of knowledge and wisdom? Can they be trusted? Anything going on today to help shed light on this mystery? - Leslie Frompf, Sandy

Leslie, know one really knows what owls are. All we're certain of is that, according to the show Twin Peaks, "The owls are not what they seem."  Here's what's going down today:

Today really is International Owl Day and Tracey Aviary is hosting a $5 after 5 p.m. family-friendly night devoted entirely to owls! Bring the little ones for owl-related crafts, activities, and a special extended keeper talk in the Owl Forest. The owl party starts at 5 p.m.

Pop duo, Us The Duo will be at The Depot tonight. Caroline Glaser will open up. The show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $13.

Lo-fi indie pop band Iji will be at Kilby Court this evening. Marvelous Good Fortune, Nick Neihart and Drew Danburry are also on the bill. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $7.
