Dear GYA, Hey, what can I say, I'm just a guy who loves bass...specifically in my facial area. Do you have any clue on exactly how much bass will be in my face at this weekend's MartyParty show? - Frank Allutser, Salt Lake City

Frank, tough to say, really. But I'm going to go ahead and ignore standard units of measure, like decibel meters, and just say you'll at least get a mouthful. Here's the details:

Electronic DJ and producer MartyParty will be headlining Urban Lounge's monthly Dirt First instalment this Saturday. Grimblee, Mr Vandal and Gravytron are also on the bill. The show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15.

A few other options for the weekend:

Friday, singer/songwriter Citizen Cope will be at The Depot. The show is at 9 p.m. Tickets are $36.

Also on Friday, stand-up comedian and actor Ari Shaffir will be at Wiseguys West Valley. There's two shows, a 7:30 p.m.and a 9:30 p.m. Tickets are $20.

Saturday, City Weekly will be hosting an opening reception for it's skateboard video series The Life in a Day at the CUAC. The party is from 6-9 p.m. Admission is free, but requires an RSVP
