Wine Wednesday: Sea Level to High Altitude Wine Dinner

On Wednesday, February 17th, Alta's Shallow Shaft restaurant will host a special wine dinner called "Sea Level to High Altitude" featuring the single vineyard wines of Poseidon Vineyard and Obsidian Ridge. Winemaker and co-founder Arpad Molnar will be the special guest for the evening.

Partners Arpad Molnar, Peter Molnar and Michael Terrien say of Poseidon Vineyard and Obsidian Ridge: "We are farmers, coopers, winemakers- intimately involved in the creation of our single vineyard wines form Napa, Carneros and the high Mayacamas Mountains. We own and farm our vineyards: Poseidon Vineyard at sea level and Obsidian Ridge at elevation 2,640'. We cooper our own barrels with oak selected from the forest of Tikaj, Hungary. We craft our wines in small lots, which is critical to our winemaking philosophy."

The dinner with wine pairings are as follows:

Scallop Bouride with Red Bell Pepper Rouille, Crostini + Poseidon Vineyard Estate Chardonnay 2014

Smoked Duck Spring Roll with Shitake Mushroom, Scallion, Duck Cracklings, Cherry Ponzu + Poseidon Vineyard Estate Pinot Noir 2013

Intermezzo of Raspberry-Thai Basil Sorbet

Venison Osso Bucco with Winter Root Vegetables, Fried Leeks, Cabernet Reduction + Obsidian Ridge Half Mile 2012

Dark Chocolate Pudding Meringue with Huckleberries, Sea Salt + Obsidian Ridge Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

The Sea Level to High Altitude wine dinner is $60 per person for food and $65 for the optional wine pairings.
