The first half of the JCRD/HVDD bout featured random lighting outages due to an overheated breaker, which kept things interesting while Junction City’s B-Train team ran up the score against Happy Valley’s Molly Morbids early on. Eventually, HVDD jammers Acid Burn and O-Megative put some significant points on the board and their defensive line began knocking speedy-but-slight JCRD jammers Malibu Harpy and Mayhem Miller around like black-and-blue pinballs. But, there was no stopping JCRD’s Pickle, a relentless scorer who—wait for it—spears her way through the pack every time. Score at halftime: Junction City Roller Dolls 80, Happy Valley Derby Darlins 49.
The lights were at last fixed, but Junction City continued to roll away with the bout into the second half—not even blocker Biass’d Opinion’s game-halting spill early in the period could slow them down. Happy Valley’s Cookie, Bloody 2 Shoes and Pain In the Nikki jammed home some points here and there, staving off a complete blowout, but JCRD were clearly in it to win it—and not by a narrow margin. Final score: Junction City Roller Dolls 170, Happy Valley Derby Darlins 112.
