Tonyburgers: The Real Deal

With the flashy new regional franchise kids in town -- Smashburger and In-N-Out Burger, to name a couple -- I'd almost forgotten about Tonyburgers, a strictly local enterprise. --- And, I was concerned about the viability of the flagship Tonyburgers location in Centerville since In-N-Out moved in just a few blocks away a couple months ago. So, I was pleased to find Tonyburgers thriving with happy customers during lunch this week.

If you haven't been yet, you should check out the Tonyburgers in Centerville or the newer Salt Lake City location. These are honest, no-nonsense, delicious burgers and fries. The burgers, which come in quarter, third, or half-pound sizes, are a "secret tri-beef" blend from different cuts of beef and taste like old-fashioned burgers made from actual meat, not filler, with a robust flavor. Imagine that! You also have a choice of cheeses for cheeseburgers: Swiss, Cheddar or American, along with a variety of toppings such as grilled or raw onions, jalapeños, bacon, BBQ sauce and much more.

And the fries, well, they're some of the best around. They are perfectly sized - not too thick; not too thin - and treated with tender, loving care. They're first soaked in water to remove starch and then fried twice (as they oughta be) in 100% peanut oil. The only way they could be better is if the skins were left on. It's a shame they aren't.

Milkshakes are thick and creamy, hand spun from Breyer's All Natural Ice Cream. Be sure to try the Bear Lake raspberry shake.

And, if you're not in the mood for burgers, Tonyburgers also offers a healthy selection of salads like apples and walnut, Caprese, an iceberg T-Wedge, and "Laura's Fav": spinach leaves, Gorgonzola, glazed pecans, cranberries, red onion and balsamic vinaigrette.

Recently, Tonyburgers also started serving breakfast - from 8:30 to 10:30 AM.

If you're looking for good, fast food from a local business, give Tonyburgers a try.
