It's a shame that the Utah Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control is restricted by law from promoting the consumption of alcohol, especially when that gets in the way of advertising its new web feature that lets you track down which liquor stores have stocked your favorite spirits and beers. Luckily we here at City Weekly have no such legal obligations and are therefore happy to introduce you to this new booze tracker.---
The feature is a little tricky to find from the DABC website itself, though DABC spokeswoman Vickie Ashby says the agency is currently working on making it more accessible from the main page. Right now you can follow this link here to go to the new product search function.
By typing in a product name you can find out where it's stocked and in what quantity. It's a helpful tool when you've got a thirst for harder-to-find products like a bottle of Jameson Rarest Vintage Reserve whiskey or some tasty Old Rasputin Imperial Stout.
The site shows where the booze is stocked and whether it's categorized as a general distribution item, or a limited or special-order product for example. The feature also shows how many products are on order and how many are in the warehouse. The data is limited, however, to the previous day's count, so if the website shows a store is down to a few bottles of whatever you're after, you might want to call the store and double check that it's still in stock.
Cheers.
