In the process of trying to beat the heat, many have taken to hanging out at night and playing Pokemon Go. But we hope in the midst of trying to catch them all, you duck in for one the releases shows happening this weekend. First, though, we have a small set of digital releases for you to check out, so thumb through the digital catalog, then join us below for more details.

The first of our two release shows happens over at The Complex, as we see the latest from VanLadyLove. The Provo-based trio has been quite successful at a local level, having become a must-see live act with a hit EP from 2014. The band is now releasing its second EP, Alive, which is essentially a live album of old and new songs. You can snag a copy tonight as the band plays with  Festive People, Mojave Nomads and Brendon David Nielson. Tickets are $12 and the doors open at 7 p.m.

The second release is a bit off the beaten path in many respects, as we see the latest from Sam Burton. Burton is a longtime SLC musician with roots going back to Spy Hop; some might know him best from his dram-pop/rock band The Circulars. It's been a hot minute since Burton released any solo material, but he has a brand new cassette being released this Saturday.  The details of the album are kinda shrouded in mystery, but we know he'll be playing with Strong Words and Red Bennies, with a special set of readings by Jason Dickerson. All of this will happen at Stefahn's Barbershop (with Cody Kirkland of The Rose Establishment serving as the bartender), tickets are $5 and the show begins at 8 p.m.
