While you're all headed out to the local 7-Eleven for a free Slurpee, here's some local music for you to download or check out after the brain-freeze wears off. First up, Anthony Pena has a brand-new album out, but I won't need to say much on it as it was reviewed by City Weekly's Kolbie Stonehocker in this week's issue. You can buy his latest album, Apology, for whatever price you'd like on his Bandcamp page right now.

Next up is an acoustic album from Clearfield musician Sean Padraic. I unfortunately don't have a lot to write about Sean at this point, as he's got nothing online as far as promotion; in fact it seems he recorded this album on a whim and used what he could around him to make an album. DIY at its finest! You can download his debut album, You Can't Fix Perfect, off of Bandcamp for free.

To wrap up the online releases, Swoody Records has a new release from a band called X-Boyfriend. This is a four-piece indie-pop band comprised of label owner Davin Abegg with Robert Reynolds, Justin Behling and Dave Todd. This is a cool little album with a lot of garage rock and lo-fi tones; it's definitely worth checking out at least once. You can get it from the label's Bandcamp page for whatever you'd like to pay.

Getting into the release shows, we have two tonight, and it's going to be a tough choice between them. The first is at The Woodshed, where Tupelo Moan will be releasing their latest album. This is a badass rock project that's grown over the years into a fine live act that's well worth the price of a ticket. Tupelo Moan started as a duo in 2009, with Brad McCarley at the helm playing with various drummers over the years. The band released their self-titled debut album in 2010. Since that time, the band has grown to a four-piece, currently consisting of McCarley, Jeff Phillips, Brandon Hansen and Jesse Stewart. The group have been playing occasional live shows until recently, when they jumped into McCarley's Salt Lake Recording Service and cranked out their sophomore album, Cocaine And Chicken Grease. You can pick up a copy tonight as the group plays with Folk Hogan and Red Bennies, the show is just $6 and starts at 9 p.m.

Meanwhile at The Garage, we'll see the latest release from the band Color Animal. This is a four-piece alternative-rock band that put out a damned fine album in early 2013 called Vision Lies, which I highly encourage you to check out if you haven't. The group—Andrew Shaw, Felicia Baca, Tyler Ford and Seth Howe—recently hooked up with guitarist/producer Michael Sasich to create their follow-up album, Bubble Gum, which sounds absolutely fantastic. You can currently get the album off Bandcamp, but if you want to hear it live and get a physical copy, you can see them play tonight for just $5 at 8 p.m. with David Williams and Strong Words.

And then finally on Tuesday, July 15, we'll see the latest from Burn Your World. This is a four-piece hardcore-sludge band from SLC that got its start in late 2010. Beyond playing sporadically around the valley, the last time we really heard from Burn Your World was with their 2011 self-titled EP. The band has returned with a killer full-length called Living Decay, which sounds sharper and angrier than the previous release. You can download it on Bandcamp for $3, but if you want a physical CD, you'll need to wait until Tuesday when they're released on Black Flame Records.
